Design Goals
This conceptual, futuristic backcountry ski helmet challenges the weight and ventilation tradeoffs of current models. Traditional foam and oversized vents add bulk while limiting airflow control and visual refinement. By minimizing external vents and integrating an internal Kelvin-cell lattice, this design reduces weight and actively channels heat and moisture through an Air Spine. system.
Ideation
The ideation phase combined visual research, sketching, and prototyping to explore both aesthetic and functional possibilities. Moodboards helped define the project’s direction, while sketching enabled rapid iteration and problem-solving. Early prototypes were used to test form, scale, and structure, ensuring concepts were grounded before moving forward.
